This year’s theme Fall Carnival
8th St is turning into a Fall Carnival for the day. Come for games and Cardboard City; stay for lunch, jazz, potluck, raffle prizes, Tim Burton’s Dumbo after dark, and a 9pm+ after-party stoop hang.

The game plan
One block.
One full day.
Start with coffee and setup, roll into games and lunch, then stick around for jazz, potluck, dessert, raffle, a movie under the night sky, and an after-party stoop hang.
Cardboard City opens
Explore the city built by neighborhood kids while carnival setup continues.
Lunch off the grill
Burgers and hot dogs for the block.
Carnival games & treats
Games, temporary tattoos, popcorn, and more—with Cardboard City open all afternoon.
Cocktails, mocktails & The Stoop Boys
The lounge opens at 4pm, with live jazz joining around 4:30pm.
Community potluck
Bring a dish to share and settle in for dinner on the block.

Pie, prizes, and a few words before we shift into movie mode.

Movie night begins after dark on the white wall at Gowanus Dental, 163 8th St; the lounge becomes self-serve during the film.
After-party stoop hang
The official block party winds down, but the night keeps going at 187–195 8th St.

Lunch comes off the grill at noon. At 5pm, the block shares a potluck alongside chicken, catfish, vegetables, and salad from the Block Team. Bring something for 10–20 people—homemade, store-bought, or local takeout all count. BYOB.

When is the Fall Block Party?+

Can I invite friends or people who don’t live on the block?+
Absolutely. Friends and guests are welcome—ask them to bring a potluck dish, drinks, or a donation if they can.
How can I help?+
Choose a specific job and time on the volunteer form. The biggest needs are setup, the lunch grill, activity shifts, bartenders, the movie transition, and cleanup.
What should I bring?+
BYOB and bring food to share. The potluck starts at 5pm; dishes serving 10–20 are welcome, whether homemade, store-bought, or local takeout.
